New Brain Technology Gives Hope for Tourette Syndrome
University of Florida researchers recently implanted 2 patients with a new brain technology to address the disabling symptoms of Tourette syndrome. The Brain Mapping group aims to identify the brain signature patterns for tics and to develop novel neurotechnological approaches to suppression of the unwanted movements. Sanjay Gupta recently visited the operating room during one of the deep brain stimulation procedures and explained the importance of understanding human neural network modulation through the use of deep brain stimulation.
