Time to ditch your headphones with Parkinson's disease?

It turns out, that if you are outside, it may be time to ditch your headphones. Our Parkinson’s Tip of the day is available on Facebook Video link and discusses the reasons why you may not require headphones if you are outside.

Reasons to ditch or get rid of your earphones or ear buds:

  • You can use the speaker on the phone and place your phone in a pocket or strap it to your arm.

  • In Parkinson’s disease it will be one less thing you have to manage; multi-tasking when walking can contribute to falling.

  • When your headphones are in you may not hear oncoming traffic— or be as quick to recognize danger.

  • When you are outside the sound from a small cellphone dissipates into the air quickly.

  • If you are walking the sound will be unlikely to disturb anyone.
