The Living with Parkinson's Disease Tip of the Day: Antidepressant Medications
The Living with Parkinson’s Disease Tip of the Day:
The specific type of antidepressant is less important than the adjustment of the dose to the appropriate level.
Too often we obsess over the name and/or color of the antidepressant and we prescribe the pill without adequate followup.
If you start an antidepressant you should be checking with your provider every week or two to be sure the dose is titrated properly and the depression improves. You should also employ a caregiver of friend to check in with you daily and report any suicidal thoughts immediately.
